The “Lindwurmbrunnen” is the Klagenfurts’s landmark and also shown in the towns emblem. It was created in 1593 from a single block of slate out of the Kreuzbergl quarry and weights over 12 tons. The legend says that 300 younglings in white cloths draged it to its current location. In front of the Lindworm is the statue of Hercules, who defeated him.
